One of the simplest things that you can do to honour your temple is to take time to be thankful for it.
I like to take time and write out the things I am thankful for. I also like to spend time with God and tell him what I love about the body he’s given me. As for yourself, maybe you’ll write it out on a piece of paper, or talk to yourself in the mirror, or you could even pray!
If you want to come before the Lord and tell him what you’re thankful for, I suggest going somewhere quiet and safe. This may not be so easy for you. I’ll be honest, sometimes it’s hard coming before God and thanking Him for your body. Often times I notice the things I don’t like about my body before I see the good. And that’s human. The enemy will whisper the things that you shouldn’t like about yourself and make you focus them, however with God, he will show you how beautiful you are.
For this step, I encourage you to take two minutes of your time and thank the Lord for your body. This could be on your commute to work or school. Take notice of the little things that you love. What do you like about your body? Is it the little freckles you have around your nose? The way your eyelashes look? Your eyes? The way you’re a good problem solver? How compassionate you are? Come before Him and thank him for what he has beautifully created.
The verse I would like to focus on for this blog post is:
For the spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. – 2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)
Reflect on that verse and say it over and over again. Isn’t that amazing?! The Lord has blessed you with a spirit that is full of power, love and self-discipline. And let’s be thankful for it! So if you haven’t already, I encourage you to take a few minutes to reflect and be thankful for the body you have. This is one of many ways to honour your temple.
